Friday Feature: Blonde and Wise

Ok, so it’s been a few months since my shoot mad it’s way onto Brides Up North, but all the sunshine we’ve had recently is giving me all the summer feels that we tried to capture. Bright pops of neon, fresh faces and truly innovative and unexpected bridal gown designs made this August shoot at Denton Hall and absolute party to participate in.

Those bridal designs were provided by one of my favourite creatives in the industry — Blonde and Wise. I’d been admiring their non-bridal collections, when it occurred to me that their designs would be perfect for a bride who wants something unique, comfortable and completely bespoke -- for themselves and their bridal party. I love the unusual necklines, asymetric hemlines and the ability to personalise your garment. I just wish I’d known about them when I got married!

I’d love to introduce you Lucy and Amy -- creators and designers behind local label, Blonde and Wise. Following our gorgeous shoot, I got to sit down with them to get a little more insight into their Yorkshire based company.

Q: How did you get started?

A: Lucy has been designing she was a little girl, covering notebooks with sketches of dresses and making clothes with her mum. When she met Amy at Art College it was a match made in making heaven. The two were taught to be creative and push boundaries, and actually sold their degree work on a stall in the Leeds Corn Exchange, which led them to starting their own brand together.

“We always wanted to stand out from the high street and give people a made to measure experience.”

Q: With so many different bridal styles to choose from and in a world where really anything goes with weddings, who are the brides who are choosing Blonde and Wise styles -- whether for themselves and/ or their bridal parties?

A: “We welcome anyone who wants a fabulous style to feel comfortable in. With no zips and corset we can give a more relaxed feel to a bridal look. Being relaxed makes you look more confidence. We have so many lovely ladies who want something a bit different from the high street and also know how important it is to have made to measure. We can create a look that will fit, be the right style, right fabric and the right length.”

Q: Was there someone in your life who particularly inspired you/ encouraged you?

A: “ Our lives are filled with so many inspiring people. It’s important to surround yourself with so many different people that give you lust for life.”

Lucy says that she has always been inspired by her Mum, as she lost her when she was just 17 years old.  “It has been my drive to carry on her passion and love. To do something in life that brings you joy and share with others.”

Amy has a fabulous Mum who inspires her to do her best and create a positive future. We are both so lucky to have our beautiful families to support us through our journey.

Q: It’s important people get to know the REAL you. So, tell us, tea or coffee?

A: We both love tea!! Can’t beat a good Yorkshire tea!

Q: Favourite comfort food?

A: Always pizza and a glass of wine!

Q: Favourite place on Earth?

So many amazing places out there. My fave place so far is Italy- so many happy memories made there. Amy loves Maldives! What a stunning place! Anywhere we can relax and watch the world go by, we like to slow our pace down!

Q: What’s next for Blonde and Wise?

A: We are now focusing on 2020 and getting new prints for the summer. It’s exciting. We have a few more additions to our Urban range. We are wanting to grow and create more fun fashion. Always looking for new inspiration and ways to push our designs.
